ESPN may have some kind of app to do that. Or possibly one of the satillite companies may have an app. Or, maybe he did have that EyeTV program. Great, now I have to check that out.

do i have to buy anything to get it to work?

An EyeTV compatible USB TV tuner for your Mac, the EyeTV software (if it doesn't come with the USB TV tuner), a high speed Internet connection, and the EyeTV iPhone app.

... anyone in the UK can use this (I'm pretty sure it will only work with a UK based IP address).

iphone.tvcatchup.com/#

Even though it's called 'tvcatchup' it's got nothing to do with catchup... it's just live streams from all the channels. Real good quality too. I used it to watch Germany thrash England during the summer, while zooming down the M1 from Yorkshire to London.

It has all the major channels and then some... and works over 3G regardless of which network you're using
