I just got the IOS 14 update on my phone but haven’t updated yet. With the pretty universally bad reviews (on here) of watch os 7 (for running), I don’t want to update until those issues have been resolved. Can I update my phone to iOS 14 but keep my watch on watch os 6, or is it a package deal where one requires the other?
Thanks in advance

If you want the watch to remain on watchOS 6 that is fine. However watchOS 7 seems perfectly fine to me.

Thanks for the replies!

Sorry, I wrote the post on my phone & thought I had written 'universally bad for running' but looks like I forgot the 'for running'. There's been several posts here about people having lost workouts or parts of workouts (maps, etc) not transferring from their watches to their phones. There's also another thread about watch OS 7 watched dying after less than 60 minutes of running when streaming audio.

The post was more antagonistic than I had meant. I'll edit it for clarity.
