Somebody told me, with 9.1 rc you can enable roaming in the tab cellular. Can anybody confirm this?

that i won't be able to answer wont be going anywhere where ill need it anytime soon
I think that would be so for the most users here. But I think roaming should work from now, if it give a option in settings to enable / disable data roaming.

I’m eager to know too!

I do see in the cellular tab that there is roaming for cell data. I recently returned from abroad (outside of US) and won’t be travelling abroad again for a while so I can’t test the feature.

Yes, can anyone confirm if international roaming for cell data and cell calls is now enabled?

eta: Misread the thread. :(

According to the key note when they announced roaming would come later on in the year the only cellular carriers that would support it initially are O2, Vodaphone and Three. If I recall correctly EE wasn’t mentioned and they would be coming later on. No idea why EE who has always been the biggest supporter of all the carriers in the UK for the Apple Watch weren’t included.

I'm assuming that it could be a carrier driven option that only shows when a carrier enables it. I'm with Vodafone and I only have the Mobile Service and Mobile Data options with 9.1

Although I do notice that now if I go am connected by cellular/mobile and swipe up from the bottom of the screen the wireless button shows the connection type as 4G in big letters on the button which I think is new

Just chatted with AT&T and they say international roaming is indeed available!
Edit: totally misread as pointed out by msackey. Will report back my experience.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting the screenshot text, but I don't see how the text is saying international roaming is available for the Watch. It says "Watch doesn't provide services Internationally with Number sync on device". Would "services" imply cell phone service?

You are right. I totally misread. However I'll test it this week when I'm out of the country and report back

You heading CA/MX or somewhere else? It is already confirmed to work in CA, seen someone said it does on Reddit. I am interested in knowing how it works outside NA though (via AT&T IDP).

Does not appear to work in Japan. Of course ATT claims to have 5g roaming in Japan but I've not seen 5g on my phone in the 5 days I've been here despite the carriers here supporting it.

I just noticed an updated page on their website saying they only support roaming in Canada, and Mexico. Page was updated on October 28.

Regarding 5G Roaming, I am in Qatar right now and I have it on 5G on both networks. Using iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Not surprisingly the roll out seems to be carrier dependent. I have Vodafone UK who have now acknowledged that it's coming but say it needs a future WatchOS update. Just back from USA and can confirm it didn't work - not surprised as the additional roaming option doesn't appear in settings.
