Can the Siri now ID songs using the watch's microphone? I think this is a killer feature, I'm sure Shazaam, etc. will implement this, but I like using Siri for song ID.

Not for Watch OS1. That uses the iPhone microphone.
Sorry, I did not completely read your question. In wOS1 the mic is off limits to 3ed party apps so they CAN'T use it. However wOS2 is only a few days away and I'm sure Shazam will be ready with an update.

Thanks for your response. But my specific question is if Siri can use the mic to ID songs through the  Watch in OS 2. I'd prefer not to download another app if I don't have to.

No. When you ask on the watch, she says "I can only identify this song on your iPhone" with a button to continue on the phone. (handoff)

I'm using WatchOS 2 Beta 5
