Watch quits receiving calls

My watch quits receiving calls after I have the phone connected via lightning cable to my cars CarPlay and using Apple Maps navigation.

To recover the capability, I have to cycle the watch power off then on and soft button reset my iPhone 6S.

Don't have that problem with my 6S Plus using either Navigon or Google Maps.
