I just got an Apple Watch for Christmas, and have started tracking my heart rate after an episode where it spiked.

I'm having an issue, however, in which the watch will "read" my heart rate when the watch isn't on my wrist. For instance, it read while I was in the shower this morning at 136, but my watch was face up on my desk.

This is incredibly annoying as it skews the heart rate range data. I'm not always paying attention as to what exact time I have my watch on or off, so this is fairly frustrating.

Has anyone else had this issue?

You have passcode and wrist detection on, and it is still acting up, I would attempt to re– pair the Apple Watch.

Perhaps someone else put on the watch while you were in the shower. It doesn't have to be unlocked to record a HR reading.
