Watch recording heart beats when sitting on nightstand

So I noticed something interesting a few times with my watch. I my watching sitting sensor side down my wood nightstand over night one time. I happen to check the health app the next day and the watch was recording heart beats the entire time.

Has anyone else seen this?

I've seen it happen when it's just sitting on my glass nightstand. Really annoys me...just wasting battery....I haven't looked into the issue though, so I don't have any advice at the moment...
