Need to upgrade from Apple Watch Series 3 (the most basic model, 38mm gps). I use the watch mainly for answering notifications, tracking workouts and activity, plus alarms + music control.

The just announced SE2 is 299€ in my country (again, base model, 40mm gps), and Amazon have a deal for the Series 7 for 399€ (41mm, gps). If i´m not mistaken, the main differences are:

-A slightly bigger screen on the S7.
-An on-screen keyboard on the S7.
-Some sensors missing on the SE2: Electrical Heart Sensor (ECG) and Blood Oxygen sensor.
-Optical Heart Sensor is 2nd gen (SE) vs 3rd gen (S7).
-Different processor (S8 vs S7, although they look to be the same?)
-SE2 has car crash detection while S7 doesn´t.

Considering this, should i spend 100€ more in the S7 or stick with the SE2? I don´t know if the additional sensors will be useful (i don´t have any of that on the S3 and its ok). My usage of the watch is not extreme by all means, so i´m reluctant to spend a lot. S8 is out of the question because its 499€ (i refuse to pay that much for a watch), and differences vs S7 are minimal (temperature sensor + dust resistant + S8 chip which looks to be the same as S7).

Thanks in advance!

I ended up just ordering a S7. It was $50 more than the new SE on sale, with a lot better features for me. This will be my first watch! Only feature I'll really miss is the crash detection. At $299 I think I got a great deal.

I think the SE is also missing the Always on Display. If that's a feature you would use, then I think the 7 makes sense. If not, the SE is a great deal.

Of course, if you find one like Apple Nerd did, for only $50 more, I think that's worth it for the keyboard & larger screen alone.

Yeah the larger screen and always on are really worth the extra $50 to me. Honestly not sure if I’ll really use the keyboard yet, but it will be nice to also have the option.
