Hi,

i've just gotten hold of a Displayport to HDMI adapter from the apple store, iWires branded one.

I've got a mid-2012 Macbook Pro 13'3 inch, with Mac OS X Mountain Lion.

One thing i'm unsure of what to do, is say, i wanted to watch a film on my laptop, but have that showing on the TV i have it plugged into, whilst i work independently on my macbook, working on applications, etc.

I've looked all over and had no such luck, anyone point me in the right direction as to how i can do this?

Thanks,

If I understand correctly what you are trying to do, you need to NOT use screen mirroring when connected to your TV, or external monitor.

When connected to the TV, open up the display settings and make sure that the TV is set up as its own screen separate the MBP. You can then drag the movie over to the second screen, in this case your TV, and then work on your laptop.

Hope this helps/makes sense.
