Apple today shared a second trailer for its upcoming "F1" racing film, which will have a theatrical release via Warner Bros. Pictures.

In the underdog comeback film, Brad Pitt stars as an F1 driver who was an up-and-coming talent in the 1990s, until an accident on the track nearly ended his career. Thirty years later, Pitt is invited to join a former teammate's struggling F1 team, in a last-shot bid to save the team and become the best in the world.

The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski, who is known for other popular action films, including "Tron: Legacy" and "Top Gun: Maverick."

"F1" debuts in theaters on Friday, June 27, and it has the potential to be a summer blockbuster. It will be available to stream on Apple TV+ at a later date.

In the U.S., Apple TV+ costs $9.99 per month, or $99 per year. The streaming service is available through the Apple TV app on a wide variety of devices, and on the web at tv.apple.com, with a free seven-day trial available.

In related news, the Apple Sports app gained support for F1 racing a few months ago.

I'll give it a watch but already know it'll be a bit rubbish. Or isn't in them level of Ford vs Ferrari or Ferrari, both excellent films. The mini series about Senna on Netflix is really good too.

This theme, "In the underdog comeback film, Brad Pitt stars as an F1 driver who was an up-and-coming talent in the 1990s, until an accident on the track nearly ended his career. Thirty years later, Pitt is invited to join a former teammate's struggling F1 team, in a last-shot bid to save the team and become the best in the world" is the theme of basically every race car and sports movie ever created. It's such a boring and predictable theme.

You think Ferrari was a good movie? Bruh.
Ford vs Ferrari was pretty great, though.

Bradd Pitt is in his 60s. Thirty years prior he'd have been in his 30s. That's the age of a seasoned pro nearing the end of their career, not an up and comer.

Yeah, but his character is not in his 60's, but his late 40's - early 50's, whether you believe Pitt can pull off a character in his 50's, is for you to decide.

Old actors playing younger characters is not something new to Hollywood or cinema in general. You can have actors in their 70's playing 50 year olds dudes, look at George Clooney.

The way this is shot has me wondering if at least parts of it will be immersive when viewed in Vision Pro. Have there been any word or rumors on that?

And I would say it really shouldn't be done…

Exhibit A:
Ridley Scott's godawful Napoleon with a very old looking 48 year old portraying a 20-something.

Anyway, let's see if Brad Pitt can pull this off. 🙂

Bradd Pitt looks younger than he is, especially with Hollywood makeup, but he still looks too old for F1.

However, a) that might add to the underdog vibe, and b) most people probably won't be bothered. I'm probably being like a doctor watching House and complaining that's not how you do a lumbar puncture.

I didn't mind Napoleon, but yeah, he did look weirdly old.

I got Top Gun vibes for sure. Old veteran who comes back and schools the young kids. Not a huge fan of racing films myself but Apple has been churning out decent quality stuff recently.

Came here to say this. The average age of the 2025 season drivers is 27 years old. At 44 years old, Fernando Alonso is the oldest in the field. Still 17 years younger than Brad Pitt (63 years old).

For reference, the oldest driver to ever race is Louis Chiron at the age of 55.

I get that he’s playing a character but hits as believable as KJ Apa playing a high schooler in Riverdale.

I am bad with judging age, but do you think Brad Pitt looks like he is 63 years old? I would say the fame and wealth that goes with it has him looking younger than his age.
