I'm asking is the video is real. Meaning, did the birds really make those sounds or was it just something someone made to be comical?

You seriously think that a bird can make the sound of a chain saw???? common!

I suspect it is true - a friend of mine had to house-sit a house with a bird in it, and it woke him up every night with an absolutely perfect rendition of a smoke alarm. The first night he ran outside in his underpants it was so realistic. :p

Although a chainsaw is quite a different noise, I still think it's possible. This bird was uncannily accurate.

wait... you think that it is real too???

It's David Attenborough...and its too good to be dubbed...

Anyway, we had a Magpie in our yard in England and he could do a blender.

The term is "come on" and the answer to your question is a resounding "YES."

The Australian Lyre Bird is one of the greatest mimics on the planet, it can imitate the sound of chainsaws, other birds, other animals, even human voices. I don't know if that's what's in the video but a bird can most definitely make a chainsaw sound.

Some more info.

I've seen this before, I thought it was just as great first time round...

I've no idea why people are so quick to dismiss something like this as fake... nature is quite often more incredible than fiction.

But if it was real. then the really real one will really be real. therefore making it real for making it not be really real, makes it not really real!:D

It's real guys, these birds inhabit the bush around here and often are in my parent's front yard at their place. They can do all sorts of noise, car engines, chainsaws, telephone rings etc.

No point doubting it anymore.

Fracking page has a large, read and white rapidly flashing "Fart Button" advertisement, making it impossible to watch the video because it is so distracting. Idiot webmaster.
Resizing the window to hide the ad makes the video stop playing.

It won't even play for me

Thanks, vniow.

Ugh. I'm not a huge fan of birds' calls to begin with, but one that so accurately mimics a car alarm and saws?! No thank you. :p

I remember seeing this a while back on TV - it's still great though. I'd never even considered it to be a fake. If David Attenborough tells you something - it's the truth.
