Since Watch Ultra was also designed for divers, I assume that if I accidentally left it in my gym pants and the gym pants got washed in the washing machine, the Watch would not have any water damage, correct?

Your watch will suffer water damage because washing machine environment is not the same as diving. High speed spinning is not good for anything, including Apple Watch electronics. Not to mention cleaning liquid people tend to use to wash their clothes, which could damage Watch further.

Not the answer I wanted to hear but your answer does make sense. How about taking a shower, specifically a hot shower?

I shower with my Apple Watches on all the time.
Marvelous!! I've had an Apple Watch since they first became available but have never showered with it. I always take it off. It's good to know that if I am drunk and forget to take it off, it won't get damaged. LOL

I mean the screens don’t come on anymore but yeah, always shower with them.

In all seriousness, it’s absolutely fine. I mentioned elsewhere I do bouldering with them and they get absolutely covered in very fine chalk 3 times a week. So a shower afterwards with them on cleans both Watch and band up nicely.

My theory is pay five dollars a month for AppleCare and never have to worry about ANY potential scenario. Definitely very cheap for a product like this that’s going to be exposed to the environment on your wrist.

I put my apple watch series 6 in the washer. a month ago. The 5ing operates perfectly. zero glitches. Zero issues. Zero problems. I imagine the ultra can do even better.

I doubt the “spinning” will harm your watch in the washer what so ever. If it is a front load washer and it come out of the pocket, I would worry more about physical damage from tumbling in the washer drum. Most likely your Ultra will even survive that!

You’re asking a question without an answer. You should try not to do that. If you do, it could still work or it could break.

I’ve put AirPods through the washer and dryer and they came out working fine. With that said, I highly recommend you not do that…
