hey guys. I’ve noticed something weird my watch does.

If I have my watch facing down on my bed and if I unlock my phone, it will unlock my watch as well.

I live in a dorm and it’s pretty scary that my Roomate can go through my messages, photos, etc on my watch if this happens.

I thought the sensors can tell the difference between it being on a hand than on a bed?

This can be disabled by going to the Watch app on your phone. Scroll down to "Passcode" and disable "Unlock with iPhone".

It senses your wrist via the sensors on the back. No matter how hard to try to emulate your experience I can't. I need to have the back covered in a very specific way that simulates a wrist at the very least.

The iPhone will only unlock you Apple Watch in close proximity too. So even if your roommate put it on, unless you were there it wouldn't unlock.

And like mentioned, this can be turned off.
