Watch update issue

Hi all

So I have a watch se 1st gen and iPhone X, I want to update to watch os 10 but can’t because the x doesn’t support iOS 17 so im trying to update directly from the watch unpaired from my phone and get “unable to check for update” error.

I have reset the watch with no change, any ideas ?

There's no way to update the watch without going through a paired iPhone. The only way to get watch os 10 is to pair with an iPhone running iOS 17.

I wonder what happens if you do that then try to re-pair with a phone running 16.7.

I was thinking the same, thinking it may down grade back to 16.7.

I'm pretty sure you'll get a message saying your phone needs to update to iOS 17.

not going to work, watchOS 10 requires ios17
