Does anyone know if the watch allows faster charging with the 12w adaptor rather than the standard iPhone 5w charger?

Anecdotally, the iPad charger I keep next to my desk didn't charge the Watch any faster. In fact, it got unusually warm and needed an hour or two to move from 90%->100%

The folding pin adapter in the box managed to charge it just as fast, if not faster.

It might be interesting to have a read through this page:

If necessary, Apple Watch will regulate its internal temperature. There are several things you might notice if this happens:
Charging times might increase, or charging might stop
The display might dim
A temperature warning screen might appear
Data transfers could pause or slow down
Apps might close
