I have 44 long avi movies. I need to somehow get them SAVED on my iPhone.
(well maybe not all that would be 14GB)

My questions are:

1. is there anyway i could upload them to a midpoint place and then copy them to my iphone on my iphone without redownloading everyhting?
2. is there a fast converter (not videora it takes aaaages)

1) Why would you want to? Any download or wireless transfer is going to take longer than copying them over USB. And 14GB divided by 44 is less then 400MB each. Those aren't that big at all.

2) Converters are mostly dependant upon the speed of your computer but I use Handbrake and for me it usually converts in about 3/4 of the time that it would take to watch the video. I've tried converters that were faster (like Format Factory) but the quality of the converted video wasn't as good.

AVPlayer. Works great and you don't even have to sync with iTunes to get your movies on the phone. AVPlayer can transfer your movies wirelessly.
