Watching movies & playing WoW in full screen

Anyone know of a way to have VLC or Quicktime running /visually/ "on top" of WoW, with all of the keyboard & mouse inputs effecting WoW and not the video player?

I'd like to have a mini TV nestled between my unit frames-- a sort of "screen-in-screen" effect.

I'm running on last summer's 24" iMac.
