Watching movies thru mini port

I've hooked my Pro Mac to my T.V. with mini port to HDMI adapter. My T.V. shows my background desktop only.

Your TV's display is working in extended mode. There's two things you can do to get your video to display on the TV. Simplest is to drag the window with the TV show playing off to the right of your Mac's display. It should then show up on your TV. Your other option is to go into display preferences and turn on mirroring. This will make it so that your Mac and TV display the exact same image.
