You are now insulting our intelligence. The speakers on zero iMacs ever made have been "incredible".
Come, now... TSE is perhaps a bit too enthusiastic sometimes, but I don't think he's
completely out of kilter, on this. Personally, I've owned a decently wide range of Macs over the years -- including four different iMacs -- and I will acknowledge that the iMac's speakers do stand out, in that field.
Somewhat. Mind you, they have had some pretty stiff competition within Apple's historical model lineup -- but I mean... I don't
think we're trying to compare a home computer to a home theater, here. Are we?
But before the iMac was even a thing, I remember having a 6400 tower with an integrated subwoofer; for its day, that was really impressive. Some time after that, I had a PowerMac G4 with these cool little external clear plastic spherical speakers, and I soooo wish those hadn't had a proprietary cabling interface, otherwise I might well still be using them to this day.
Over the years, there have also been other notable Mac sound systems from the likes of Bose (like the 20th Anniversary Mac) and Harmon Kardon... so, someone at Apple
really likes high quality audio, and puts forth some decent effort into incorporating it into the Mac product line. The sad reality, though, is that you can only do so much within the limited confines that Apple's design engineers have allocated for flat panel iMacs. This could perhaps go into the category of reasons for hoping that the next iMac Pro -- if it should ever happen to make an appearance -- adds a bit more physical depth to the body, as I imagine that could enable a great deal of improvement to the audio system.
But... are the speakers in TSE's little Yellow iMac "incredible"? I'd say, it likely depends upon his point of reference. In his particular scenario, I expect he naturally would be comparing it to his Dell Latitude; in that comparison, I imagine the iMac absolutely rocks. But even sitting side-by-side with very nearly any (vaguely) comparable non-Apple all-in-one, I'd still fully expect the iMac to shine like a beacon.
