Watching TV on a iMac

Last week i stayed at a hotel in Birmingham (UK) and in each of the rooms they had iMacs.
You could watch TV or use it as a regular Mac.
When you turned it on, there was a choice: TV or Computer.
How can I do this at home?

This sounds great, I'm not aware that this comes on the apple operating system, so it must be A third party application. what hotel in Birmingham was this, I'm from Birmingham too. It would be handy to ask the staff at said hotel!
