Just curious, is there really any different?

I am mainly using a MacBook Pro 16 M1 Max. I like to know from a video quality and battery usage standpoint. Is there a benefit of using one over the other. I couldn't find any good answer after extensive google search.

YouTube on Chrome uses a different codec than YouTube in Safari. Will you notice…probably not. You can see it in the video quality settings.

Compare for yourself and decide. That type of stuff is subjective and dependent on the hardware as well. If you’re 80yrs old and using a CRT then it won’t matter.
I don’t have an objective way to tell the difference sadly, it feels almost the same.

Hence I wonder if there is any difference in practice
