watchOS 3 - how to send digital tap, heartbeat or drawing?

I want to send one of these messages to a friend who also has an apple watch, but he's on watchOS 2. So how can I do this? I only have options of sending a smiley face, draw a text message or voice dictation. I don't see those other options anywhere.

I was going to reply and say it should be there but I had somewhat of the same problem.

When I opened the messaging app on the watch and opened an existing conversation, the choices were what you noted. If I force touch and start a new conversation, it had scribble. If I reply to an incoming message it is also there.

Might be a bug?
