I bought a series 5 last year and eventually watchOS 6 started to have decent battery life.
Looking at WatchOS 7 what is reason to upgrade that you can point to?
Just curious if it is worth the hassle right now. For me i won't upgrade the physical watch since the 6 doesn't give me enough reason to upgrade.
What would you say are the key features in WatchOS 7 that now that you have used them makes it worthwhile to upgrade?
Curious about the sleep tracker although I don't know what to do with the data...

I just upgraded my iPhone XR to iOS 14 tonight.

Thanks

I don’t use sleep tracking, for me, it’s the battery health features. My S4 is 2 yes old and I have no plans to get the S6 so it needs at least another year... I’m at 90% now so looking good.
I would wait for 7.1 though as there are reported drain issues with .0 and not everyone seems to have resolved tho with .0.1

Well I absolutely hated watchOS6 as it was buggy and laggy.

watchOS7 brings back the snappiness I was accustomed to, and fixes some bugs. That's enough for me to be satisfied.

My experience on S4 is that 7 is slower to boot to watch face, but feels noticeably snappier and more responsive that 6.x. The only problem for me is poor battery life since I first installed 7. I'm now on 7.0.1. I've already unpaired. Done everything but set up as new.

Before I could do a 2.5mile run and have about 15-25% battery at 9pm. Now I routinely get low battery alert 6-9pm after dinner, without a workout. One day after a morning run I had 43% at lunch time. Some report this is corrected by re-pair, others by setup as new, others say none of that helps.

Look through the threads on battery life, unpair/repair might do the trick for you plus 7.0.1. I had that issue but it’s fixed, I just came back from a 2 hr my bike ride tracked via outdoor cycling stock app and battery is at 73%, when I had the drain issue, similar ride got it down to 35%

I have not upgraded my S5 and have no plans to do so. The battery features of watchOS 7 are literally the only things they added that I wouldn't immediately disable. Meanwhile, there are all kinds of reports of battery drain (which may or may not get fixed), and they disabled force touch even for older models that have the hardware for it. So I'm not interested. I'll stick with watchOS 6 until I upgrade my watch, probably a year from now.
