So, I’ve tried to get Apple to give me some sort of information on this, but they refuse to comment on it.

Does anyone know if my series 4 and 5 Apple watches will continue to sync activity data, if the series 4 is on watchOS 7 public beta and the series 5 is on watchOS 6? I’m willing to install the beta on the series 4, but I don’t think I want it on my series 5.

Anyone know? I already know I need the iOS 14 beta, as well. Thanks!

I’m using iOS 14 and watchOS 7 (beta 4) on my iPhone 8 plus and Watch Series 4, data synchronization works line a charm. And it is the same with my old Series 2 which is running under WatchOS 6.2.8
Even much much better that with iOS13
Apple really did a great job with data synch !

So, if you use your series 4 for half the day and then switch to your series 2 for the other half of the day, your activity rings and stuff still sync up?

Have you noticed anything that doesn’t function or doesn’t work well when switching between the two watches?

Thanks!

For software development purpose, I’m switching several times every day between both my watches (Series 2 with watchOS 6 and Series 4 with watchOS 7).
And yes data synch works perfectly.
All data created on any of the two watches are synchronized back to the iPhone iOS14 and forth to the other watch as soon as I switch to it, and vice versa.
It really works fine without any issue.
Health data synch is even much faster than with iOS 13

Also, watchOS7 will not be available for Series 0,1 and 2, and Apple can’t make these devices not compatible with new coming iOS14 ...

PS: I am the developer of wHealth Dashboard, a similar app to the native iOS Health app on the Apple watch, and I can guarantee you that health data does matter to me ;)
