I have a strange problem. iPhone 11 Pro Max, and Series 5 Apple Watch. My phone is on iOs 14.0, My watch is on WatchOs 6.2.8. I have never had a beta or beta profile on either device.
When I tried to update my watch, it downloads and then I get an error "Cannot verify the iOS update because you are not connected to the internet".
Naturally the phone and watch are connected to the same wlan which has internet access. I tried deleting the download file and rebooting watch and phone. After reboot and retry, I get the same error. I have uncoupled and reset the watch, set it up as new and retried, Same issue. Spoke to a Genius who suggested reseting the phone. So, did that also set as a new device. Same problem.
As Series 5 and earlier only support 2.4Ghz, I made sure that the 5Ghz wlan was disabled, made no difference, as the watch was connected to 2.4Ghz network and could get data (for example for weather).
I have currently a watch and phone that have been wiped no iCloud no apps nothing, and still the same problem. Looks like I have a 6 month old watch that can not be updated.
Any suggestions on what else to try?
