Hi. I have a Series 7 and just upgraded to watch OS9. My Belkin Charger stopped fast charging. Anyone else have this? I doubt it is even charging as the battery is going down.

can't help you here but I have a random question. Which Belkin charger do you have?

Just updated to watchos9 on Series 7. I use a third party charging stand with its own puck (not Apple puck) first time charging last night, gets to 100% then pings every now and then. Had to put it in Theatre Mode. Checked charge this morning, the charge was @ 83%, I guess the Watch would not accept a charge because the off and on charging? Worked perfect till update.

I guess Apple have put some sort of block on third party charges?

Could also be a glitch in watchOS's smart charging where it doesn't fully charge until close to when it thinks you're going to wear it.

While I've got an Apple charger, when I put it on the charger at night, it only gets to like 70% quickly then stops, then continues around 4am so it's at 100% when I take it off the charger at around 5:30am.

Perhaps watchOS 9 is messing with your watch's charging schedule? Just a thought.

Both Watch and phone (13 pro max) finally charged. Slower than before IOS 16 and WatchOS 9. Is

oh damn I didn't know they have a newer version of this with fast charging, pretty sure the 2 we have don't, now I kindda want to upgrade them. (assuming they'll fix the issue lol)
Available from the Apple Store.

I’m using the Apple 20w adapter and puck. Fast charging is slower since WatchOS 9. I used to get ~2% per minute of charge before WatchOS 9, now it’s ~1.5min.

I'm using a 3rd party 20W adapter, which I've had for about a year and the Apple charging puck that came with the Series 7. Ever since I had my first watch (s4) my routine has been to charge for about an hour at night before bed, and then top it up to 100% again with another 20-30 minutes on the charger in the morning when I'm getting ready. That's worked fine for years.

Since updating to WatchOS 9 I've had some unusually slow charging activity on the Series 7. It's taken up to an hour and a half to reach a full charge before bed from a charge of 50-55%. On WatchOS 8, 45-60 minutes was sufficient.

In the mornings, well let's take this morning as a good example. When I woke up, the watch was at 92%. I put it on the charger at 5:30am. At 6:00am I checked it, and it was at 94%. I didn't have to leave the house yet, so I let it keep charging another 30 minutes and it got up to 96% before I had to leave. That's ridiculously slow.

We upgraded our Belkin 3-in-1 chargers to the new model with AW fast charging, it's definitely fast-charging our watches. I skipped S7 so this is the first time I have a watch that does fast charging, finding it super useful so far.

Maybe you have optimized battery charging turned on?

I’ll double check, but when it’s doing the slow charge thing, it displays "charging to full" and doesn’t show that ”charge to full now” button.

Edit: Charging message clarification, checked while it was doing this same thing this morning and the wording is "charging to full" not "charging to 100"
