i have the iphone 3G and everything works perfectly fine until i tried to plug it to itunes and it just doesn't work! i tried all the re-installing itunes and turning off my phone.. NOTHING! i also read this here:
Plug the phone into the computer with iTunes running.
- Press the power button (aka sleep/wake button, the one in the upper right corner) and then right away press the home button while still holding the power button. Hold both buttons down for 10 seconds.
- After the 10 seconds, release the power button but keep holding the home button.
If it works, then you should see a pop-up indicating that iTunes has detected a phone in recovery mode (in Windows, there's also a sound effect from the OS typically to tell you a device has been recognized). You can let go of the home button when you see this. If you don't get this indication, then try again.
Once you get the popup, then click the okay button and then restore the iPhone.
AND NOTHING!!!! that popup screen did show up and i thought my phone was reseting.. after waiting for 20 minutes my phone wasn't reseted and it was still not on itunes!
I also took it to the apple store... the guy told me it was water damage on the bottom.. (where you charge it) so theres nothing they can do.. but i read here about someone who opened their iphone and the internal sensors were white and since they were he put the iphone back together and when he went to the apple store first they told him it was water damage, but he asked to check the inside of the phone and since the inside was white he got a new phone...
my question is.... could it really be that the sensor at the bottom of the phone is red but the inside is not?? i haven't got my phone wet. never dropped it in the toilet of a cup of water... so it could have been the smallest drop of rain or i don't know..
and sorry about my poor iphone terminology...
