Hello
Last April I was in Cancun and got water damage to my iphone 3G. (I know)
To switch it up a little i purchased a Blackberry Bold 9000, and more recently a 9700. I could use a break from the Blackberry and would like to go back to the iphone. I was wondering, I know it is damaged by water and they wont replace it because the strips are red, but if I go to apple and ask for a replacement with their oww service, would i still be able to get the phone for 199? or would i have to pay the full unsubsidized price of 5 and change?

I would assume that I would only be able to get the 3g phone and not the 3gs one right? I am not eligible for an upgrade, because i just used it on the new bold 2.
thank you for any help- i can not find a straight answer to my problem anywhere on the apple website.

Thank you
-robbie

Out of warranty is $200 and you will get a refurb. Same model and color. They can mail you one also while you send yours off. Just tell them my phone has water damage and U need another one. I had to do this last month.

I'd lean towards having to pay full price with them again as you no longer have a current contract with a carrier.

the iPhone warranty and service has nothing to do with the carrier. it is all up to Apple so that would not slow you down. you can send it to Apple and get it replaced for the $199
