My daughter dropped her Ipod touch into a bowl of soup  She immediately took it out but the screen is black so we can't tell if it is on or not. I currently have it sitting face down on a window sill in hopes that the sunlight will dry it out. Does anyone have any other suggestions or is it basically doomed?

Thank you, and hopefully I have posted this in the right part of the forum.

You could try putting it in some rice or aiming a fan at it, but odds are it's a goner. Soup usually has lots of salt in it and would have shorted out...practically everything the moment it dropped in.

Thats what I thought too...thanks a lot. That Christmas present lasted almost a month

As Miles 01110 said, putting it in rice is probably your best shot. Make sure to give it time, don't give up if it doesn't work after a few hours or a day. Leave it in for several days at least.

I have seen similar situations where indeed the iPod Touch met its end, but I have also seen some dropped in liquid that after 3 or so days of drying, become operable once again.

I wouldn't get your hopes up too much, but it's always worth a shot.

Good luck!

Well, I would suggest rice, but the soup probably kindof hurt it more than water would have because of the salt. Rice is your best bet but don't be surprised if it doesn't turn on after a week or so.

Then again my phone was in my swim bag when a bottle of shampoo exploded. It still works. My phone is not an apple device, though.

This morning.....it works!!! :)

I just kept it in the rice, under a lamp (since I had limited sunshine due to a snowstorm yesterday)

I thought for sure that it was done. Thank you for your advice everyone!
