Much the same way the home button doesn't work with gloves, it won't work with my water proof pouch that I use at the water park all summer long. I was thinking maybe we would be okay because the touch screen was always fine before in the pouch...but now, I can't use the button to get back to the home screen. Any ideas of what I can put it in in the future?

I'm curious as well as I'm in the same boat (actually, I'm literally often in and around my boat). And as a pre-emptive response to those who will say this isn't necessary because of the water resistance of the 7/7+, note that (i) Apple does not recommend swimming with the device, (ii) there is a water damage indicator in the phone and Apple may not cover water damage, (iii) you have to wait 5+ hours after water exposure to charge your phone, which for some people will be an issue, and (iv) saltwater exposure is just plain bad for bare devices, irrespective of waterproofing.

Turn on assistive touch and use that as the home button. You can also tailor it to give you access to Notification Center, control center, multitasking, etc.

Thank you! I was trying to figure out if that would work yesterday but wasn't sure which feature I needed to set up. It works brilliantly!

Has anyone tried your iphone 7 in your waterproof bag/pouch?
For mine, the home button is actually not working at all.
It used to work pretty well on my Iphone 5 and either Iphone 7's touch screen.
But the home button is extremely invalid, not only the touch id but any function.

That's because it's a capacitive button. Without direct skin/other capacitive material contact it doesn't work.

OK my point is, For Iphone7 users, how do u take phones to the water-activities without buying a "expensive" waterproof case. The bag is now actually useless.
Moreover, why it works with the touch screen but the home button?

You're welcome. Glad it works.

Side note, take a look at the "accessibility shortcut" in the accessibility settings if you haven't yet. It'll allow you to toggle assistive touch on/off with triple click of the home button. In case you only want to use assitive touch while in the pouch.
