So I was thinking about buying a Catalyst water proof case for my new iPhone 11 but been having some doubts. They say not to use a screen protector because it might cause fitting issues. My problem is that will that flimsy plastic protector actually protect my screen like they say. I know the 11 has strong glass already according to some videos. I only want the catalyst because it looks cool and I use my phone in the shower a lot.

11 Pro Max here. Started off with LifeProof. Chunked it, as the rainbow effect was horrible. Fitment with a glass screen protector was an issue with the LifeProof. It lessens the rainbow effect, but would fit correctly. Tolerances on LifeProof vs Catalyst = LifeProof being more exact apparently.

Then purchased Catalyst and have no issues with it fitting with a GSP, nor issues with touch; albeit a slight degradation in sensitivity, especially along the sides of the screen. For instance, I use 1Password and the alphabet, for quick scrolling is on the right side. Very difficult to use this with GSP and Catalyst screen protector.

Finally, the only reason I use a GSP and Catalyst, is I swap it from phone-to-phone for allowing my son to use it and fishing/kayaking. Didn’t want to go GSP-less when not needing additional water protection.

Hope this helps.

What glass screen protector do you use? I know they say that using one with it can cause waterproof issues

That’s a good question. I can’t remember
As it’s been on since I got the phone. My usual go-to brands are Torres, BodyGuardz, and iCarez.

The GSP definitely caused concern on the LifeProof case, as the tolerances were tighter and I could tell it was not possibly closing (sealing) all the way.

Doesn’t appear to be an issue with the Catalyst...seems there is a little more room inside the Catalyst to allow for the GSP.
