Just recently I've noticed that on my 2010 MBP, I will get some strange distortion/wavy lines on the screen for a split second and then they disappear. It will happen maybe once or twice a day.

Its hard to describe but its like the screen will go out of sync at equidistant vertical points along the screen and go back to normal again.

Any ideas what this could be?

Sounds like maybe a capacitor is having issues within the display (like when a screen Degausses). I would watch it and try to determine if anything environmental is causing the issue and note the times, as it maybe heat related and happens after so much time of use. If it persists and you can find a way to repeat then take it in to be looked at. The more you can reproduce and pinpoint it, the more that it can be fixed. You could run AHT and see if it reports anything.
