Hey guys
Just a question, when I connect the extra cord to my adapter to make the longer cord, the white box that connects the two gets literally fire hot. I generally surf the internet and play a few games, usually it gets very hot with the games.
I touched the box by mistake and got burnt twice, and I can't even touch it to move it. After too long, the light on the part that connects to the laptop turns off and I have to unplug all cords for a few minutes and then reconnect them.
Is this normal due to playing games and whatnot?
I'm running a 17" i5 2010

I wouldn't use that adapter again unless you are in the room. Definitely don't use it at night. It sounds like a serious fire risk.

It should be quite warm to touch but no way should it burning anything.

Take it to an apple store and ask for a replacement. If you are in warranty they'll replace it right then and there, and even if you aren't tell them it's a fire and safety risk, and it would be best on their part to replace it.
