Way to find out Mac purchase date?

Is there a way to find out a Mac's purchase date with a Mac's serial number? If I'm not mistaken, the AppleCare status check page used to tell you the purchase date, but I just tried it and it doesn't anymore.

That's the same page I linked to; it says the AppleCare expiration date but not the Mac purchase date. If your AppleCare has already expired you have no way of backdating or guessing the purchase date.

Any other suggestions?
