First, apologies if something similar has been asked, but this is a bit niche and I couldn't find a similar-enough question.

I recently got an Apple Watch, and my unexpectedly favorite thing about it is being able to respond to MFA notifications on my watch.

My understanding of how all mirrored notifications are supposed to work (and have been working for me) is if the phone is unlocked, they go to the phone. If it is locked, they go to the watch.

I would prefer to always get my MFA notifications (i.e. from one specific app) on my watch, and never on my phone, even when I am in the middle of using my phone. Can anyone think of a way to achieve that? I was trying to think of something creative with focus and shortcuts, or maybe there is a more straightforward way?

It's not possible to have notifications only go to the Apple Watch at all times. The closest thing you can do is to turn off the Lock Screen, Notification Center, and Banner alerts, but leave Sounds and Badges on. Notifications will actually still go to the watch, but only if the phone is sleeping. If the phone is awake, then the phone dings/vibrates instead and it doesn't go to the watch. This is what I do for an app that I only care to see notifications on the watch. (I did leave Notification Center turned on, so that I still have a way to get to my notification if I happen to be on my phone at the time it comes in.)

What MFA app are you using? Does it have an app you could install and run on the watch instead (and then be able to turn off notifications for that app on your phone)?

Interesting idea, thanks BigBlur. It is Microsoft Authenticator. It definitely does have an Apple Watch app, though I think the Apple Watch app might not support enterprise use, which is what I need. Still, I could experiment with it.
