Im going to be buying an iPad 2 soon and I am looking for ways to protect the back. I absolutely hate cases but im horrible with applying skins so not really much choice.

- I will be using the smart cover or a case with similar alternative.
- I hate when cases come over the top to hold.
- I have researched Incipio Smart Feather, Belkin Snap Shield, PixelSkin HD, X-Gear Smart Cover Enhancer, JoyFactory and CoolBanana
- Also researched ZAGG and BSE skins

I really like the Smart Feather except the fact it covers the smart cover hinge, I have never owned an iPad so I dont know how much of a problem that will be for me but I really like how thin the case is and how it doesnt go over the screen. The Belkin looks nice too. I watched some video reviews of the PixelSkin HD and seen how it does not sleep/wake the iPad and the poor adhesive/glue hinge it uses to hold, also I do not like how you have to insert the tab for the folding stand...but I do like the concept and if anyone knows of a similar case that has the cover and everything BUT is similar to the smart cover that would be great! If you recommend a skin, what brand? I read that ZAGG has bad orange peel but im not looking for the screen protector, just the back side.

Check out the carbon fiber skin from juststickit...he's on eBay and amazon. Very easy to apply because it doesn't cover the curved edges. I use that and a clear plastic smart cover compatible case, it looks great with my black leather smart cover.

I really need something for the back of my iPad! Was thinking about just buying a iPad 1 sleeve and putting it in that for when I leave the house!

I use the dodocase bookback and a smart cover on my iPad.
Perfect for me. Doesn't make it any bigger, protects the back of my ipad but makes it feel even nicer to hold! Doesn't cover and edges or add bulk.

p.s. It was really easy to apply, and if you do mess it up, it's fine to peel it off and try again. Really decent sticky. Just really push down the edges when first applied.

Having your smart cover come loose and having your expensive iPad drop to the floor once, will make you rethink the coolness of the smart cover.

Protecting the edges and entire iPad, and having a smart cover like folding front, is what brought me to the ion. The leather cases were just too bulky for me, and the ion adds very little extra bulk, while protecting all of the edges.

That looks great, how do the corners hold up?

Also, I did look at the CoverBuddy and about every case mentioned at macrumors. Im not really after something to protect it from falls or things falling onto it as im pretty careful with my stuff, just looking for something to keep the back from getting scratched when setting it down or moving it around.

I don't think anybody plans to drop their iPad.
But yet , here we are, reading about people who have dropped their iPads and dented them and or shattered the glass.

I'm just saying.
