has anyone used this? is it pretty new or old? it has usb and firewire (been aiming for firewire). but since it runs at only 5400rpm will it make a difference that it's firewire compared to usb? also it says that is HFS formatted for mac, im assuming that's the general format to use on the mac for external hard drives?

is it worth the $89 or should i just get a cheaper usb one? i just want something that transfers very quick instead of waiting for files to transfer over to my computer.

I have a few and would give them 5/10.

My biggest issue with them is that they are somewhat unreliable. Yes it has FireWire, but you often need to plug on the USB too to get enough power, (when using on my iMac - plugged in back, not keyboard). An even then I have had issues with the drives stalling/hanging - not completing large file transfers.

If you are buying it for small, slow transfers then it might be ok.

The Seagate Go series are much better IMO.
