I had been using a Western Digital 500gb Mybook Essential as storage for my PC and also on PS3. When I switched to Mac a month ago I tried to connect to it on the Mac. It came up in finder for a while, then all of a sudden it failed to show in finder. I tried it on the p.c. and would not show there either. The weird thing is...that it still shows on my PS3.

I have tried formatting this in disk utility but it tells me that resource is busy. I tried all options with this. I tried formatting this in pc using macdisk but it couldn't carry out the task. I am running 10.5.5 and XP Pro respectively.

Ideally I would like to use this drive in a FAT format as I want both PC and Mac to have access over a network.

Has this drive run it's course? Shall I call Time of Death?
