Hi all, I just registered to ask a quick question as I've been researching on the internet for the past couple hours trying to figure this out. I still haven't found the solution yet.
I bought a lightly used, great condition Airport Extreme last week. I set it up for 3 pc's a macbook and macbook pro. I reformated the WD 1 TB external HD and had it partitioned. Then I connected it via USB to the airport extreme. I was able to set up the macbook (snow leopard) and macbook pro (leopard) to access the WD HD and have it backing up automatically using time machine wirelessly. However my problem is that after I take my macbook out to work or school, when I get home, I connect to my network, the HD that I use to back up wirelessly is not in the finder. I then find it's the same for the macbook pro which has been home all day (sleeping). I go into Airport Utility and under manual set up>disks, the HD is not there either. I have to unpower and repower up the HD for the both macbooks to find the wireless HD and magically, everything is up and running again.
My questions:
1. Why is the HD ejecting itself from the airport extreme? Or why is airport extreme ejecting the HD? Or why is both macbooks unable to find the HD after a long away period?
2. What is the IP address to configure the Airport Extreme via safari/fire fox? With my old router it was 192.168.1.1. I read somewhere it's 10.0.1.1 which I tried with no success.
3. How do I find the firmware on the current Airport Extreme?
Sorry for the bad grammar and spelling mistakes. I'm in a rush.
