I have a WD Live TV plugged into my router which my Ma c accesses via airport.

However, the WD player says it can't connect to my media server. The iMac can see the device but it says the connection is failed. I've enabled file sharing to no avail. Any ideas?

You mentioned having file sharing enabled. Did you enable SMB (Windows type ) sharing? By default when you enable file sharing on OS X it enables AFP (Apple file sharing).

I don't believe the WD Live TV supports AFP file sharing, only SMB.
