Presently I am using my 3tb My Book for 1tb for backup and 2tb for external hard drive. Am waiting on my WD 8tb My Book Thunderbolt Duo. What I want to be able to do is to have the 8tb set to Raid 1 for my files on the two drives. The lone WD 3tb to use for the backup.

Here are my questions:
1. Since the 3tb is in a dual status now, will I have any trouble transferring the data onto the WD 8tb and the IMac recognizing that the location has changed for files and folders?

2. Am planning on using the whole 3TB and reconfiguring the 3tb just for backup. I would need to reformat the drive and put it back to a single 3tb and then make it the backup, right?

3. Lastly, what should the steps be as to not lose any data or files with my current configuration. Need a sanity check, thanks.
