WD My Book Live help needed

So, my dad gave me a WD My Book Live (as he upgraded to a larger one) He deleted all his files off of it, but I cannot get it to show up in disk utility to format it for my Mac. His files are gone, but his file folders are still there, and I can't get rid of them. Every time I try to delete them, they say they are in use, even tho they are empty and they are indeed not in use.

Im really at a loss here, Been messing with it for a while, and even tried the WD software, but that won't help because it wants the LED on the drive to be steady green, and mine is flashing green...

If anyone can help me out, Id appreciate it.

Make sure your not missing it on the list of drives in Apples Disk Utility. Sometimes drives will have interesting and unrecognizable names.

If you are sure on that, the only thing I can think of is wipe the drive clean through a Windows machine(if you have one). Or, try hooking the drive up to another Mac or PC you may have. And, see if the drive shows up there.

Have you tried the setup app for this?

The My Book Live is a network drive, and won't show up in Disk Utility.
