WD Passport on Macbook Pro

Im having a problem with my portable Western Digital hard drive. I want to transfer some data to a machine with Windows XP installed but it wont show up when i connect it to the XP computer. I tried formatting it with different options with disk utility but it still doesn't work. any ideas? thanks for your help

Did you format in FAT format? If not, try that or Ext2.

i tried it with FAT. which one is ext 2?

Disk Utility should say "Ext2 File System" under the erase or format tab.

Does windows and mac both recognize that partition?

Both of my computers do (Mac and PC desktop) and I have 2 or 3 in Ext2 format. You might need THIS if the Mac end of it is being tricky.

Does windows read it no problem though, no downloading necessary?
