Working on a MacOS X v 10.6.7 macbook pro, I can see the WD Manufacturer's drive name in disk utility but it's subtitle (the name I've given it) is greyed out and won't mount.

I've run repair and DU says it's fine. I've changed power cords and cables, booting up several different ways - cables in before/cables in after. I know that the files are still there but haven't had a chance to test this on another MAC yet.

Why is it, that if my Mac can see the drive in DU, it won't recognize the subname and permit me to mount?

Thanks for any new suggestions....
