I have a Macbook Pro Retina edition fully loaded. I have had ZERO issues with WD MyPassport hard drives working out of the box. However once I upgraded to 10.9.5 from 10.6 my WD Passport Ultras quit mounting.

they work fine on a PC with the same cables so that eliminates those two things as an issue

They worked fine on the old OS on the same cable and USB port so that would seem to eliminate the USB port as an issue.

My older WD Mypassort drives STILL work fine in Mavericks on the same USB port using the same cable so that would DEF eliminate the USB as the culprit

I have read a number of posts all over the net but NONE of them have a real solution to this issue. People blowing smoke saying that you need to reformat to an apple format only or just not use them at all.

surely someone has a real answer to this issue other than reformatting the drive. WD points the finger at Apple and Apple points the finger at WD meantime the customers are left hanging in the wind.

any help would be appreciated

Hi there,

Could you tell me your My Passport model number, so I can be more specific. In general, I would advise you to uninstall any WD software you have, like SmartWare and Drive Manager and try again. If there is no change, try to download the latest updates from the WD web page.

Hope this helps
