What's the consensus these days? Seagate = bad is the old advice. Is that still true? Most reviews I find don't seem to follow that opinion anymore. The advice seems to be to buy whichever enterprise model with a 5 year warranty is on sale right now. I had been using WD for larger data spinners. Between reading the reviews and the fact that I've now had two WD drives fail after just 3 or so years... Why was I going with WD again?

Any comments on the Seagate EXOS 10TB ST10000NM0016?

These guys are fans of something called ‘shucking’

Buy certain externals then remove the internals. Best Buy easystore are the favorite (wd). Then 321 your backups to secure the data itself.

Another +1 for "what's on sale" then.

Can you find a better price buying in an enclosure or something? That aside, I'm more interested if anyone wants to say something bad about Seagate nowadays. Or something particularly good about WD. :D

I specifically want an internal able to take performance and reliability demands here and there and run 24/7.
