I have a personal MBP13 from 2018 that I have been using for years on the WD15 dock with no issues. Now when I plug my new work MBP16 into the same port the screen will flicker every 20-30 seconds. I seem to remember having to install DisplayLink software but that didn't do any good on the new one. Is there a difference between these generations where the old will work but the new will not, or am I just forgetting to update something? TIA!

WD15 Dell dock and MBP

This might be a power issue. That dock can only supply 65W output to the computer, the 16" MBP needs about 20W more than that for proper charging while using it. This might be causing the issue.

I considered that and tried to plug both the dock and power supply in, same result. It does appear that this dock is limited to 60w for non-dell systems so that could be an issue. Going to borrow a PC and make sure the driver is up to date later on. I remember having the same issue on the other system and had to install something or change something to get it to stop flickering, I just can't remember what that was.
