I can't believe we can finally watch YouTube videos without the screen glitching. It was really annoying using Safari for YouTube but now it is finally usable :D

So was the glitch only with Safari? I never use Safari only Chrome and Firefox and never experienced any issues watching YouTube.

I never had any glitches on Safari with YouTube personally but now I will keep an eye on it.

I believe it only the machines with Vega graphics where the effected and only when viewing full screen. If you have a Vega model and didn’t experience it when viewing full screen YouTube videos in Safari, that’s surprising, but hopefully it’s solved with this latest update.

OK. I don't have a Vega GPU so I guess that is why I never saw the issue. Thanks!

It’s not solely related to Vega. My 2018 13” had the same problem.

I do have Vega 20 in my machine. Maybe I just didn't catch it yet and it was just patched, anyways ill still keep an eye out for it.

It wasn’t Vega only. It seemed to only affect MBP 2018 in general (T2 maybe?). I have the 560X model and not a single YouTube played without flickering before this update. Now the entire experience is what you would expect out of a $3k laptop.

Did you have the issue with any browsers other than Safari? If not, I am not sure it would be a T2 issue if it only affects Safari. Maybe a codec?

I only use Safari. I don’t remember having any issues with any video website (Hulu, Netflix, CBS for example) other than YouTube.

I used Chrome sometimes to watch YouTube and don’t remember having any issues there.

On Safari it used to flicker when in full screen and when exiting full screen the animation of the video going back to the YouTube frame was laggy. Now everything is smooth.

I am not certain if it is only the Vega GPU or not. But it does seem to be only Safari. If you don’t use Safari, or don’t view full screen, you also would not have experience it.

OK. Yes, I don't use Safari for a number of reasons. Only use Firefox and Chrome. But I do view in full screen all of the time, especially YouTube.
