When the hell is msn 8.0 coming out for the mac ? Its been in beta for a decade now ...
Anyone know anything I don't ?
 
Adium is very good. Video does not work but everything else works well. You can even integrate it into facebook chat.

Have you tried switching themes in amsn? I found another theme that suddenly made everything a *lot* snappier. Even scrolling through contacts was laggy before I changed themes.

Adium have announced that Video chat will be "coming soon".

Get adium and wait a while. MSN Messenger just sucks, big time. There is no way Bill Gates is letting the enemy have all the features his customers have.
 
We were expecting Live messenger 8 by this time with audio/video but it has yet to show up, one can only hope its a full snow leopard rewrite with close to a feature parry with the Windows version.

I'd rather it wasn't exact feature parity.

I'd rather not have the ads.

you tell that to my friends. 90% wont even heard of skype, and telling them how to install it on their windows machines will be a nightmare. best leave them in the world of m$. ill just wait for adium to support video/audio, which will be a year at the most i reckon.
 
I guess Adium is the way to go for MSN Messenger client. Every forum topic I read says MSN Messenger for Mac is so buggy and not worth it.
Ill see how Adium works out.
 
It's really pretty darn amazing they are taking so long with it. I wouldn't be surprised if eventually it only got released with Office 2010, which will be like a year from now...:mad:

All I personally need is OFFLINE MSGS and AUDIO/VIDEO support - in fact, I don't need video as much as I do audio. That's it! Is it that hard?
 
The problem is Amsn is pathetic when it comes to running stability, it always lag's when you type, and is forever crashing. I just use Adium nower days, forget Microsoft, I'm grabbing iWork soon aswell so I can get rid of Office:mac 2008...

Honestly? Microsoft are useless, and the only reason I use Windows 7 is to use WLM (and Windows Live Writer, even though I have MarsEdit)

Maybe only for you aMSN crashes and lags.
It has already been proved that, depending on the skin you are using, aMSN can crash or lag.
The default skin is fine, and those 2 skins that I've posted above works VERY WELL with 0.98.1 too.
In fact, it works so well that I didn't have any kind of bug since update and those skins.

Webcam + Winks + Nudge + Emoticons + Audio + Almost everything you do in WLM 2009.
Besides the user interface, aMSN is ahead of Adium, and that's for sure.
