Am I the only one? In iOS 16, on a new install, when trying to delete a location in the Weather app (Cupertino, where I don't live, so want to delete it), it literally crashes the app right there. I tried removing and then reinstalling the Weather app, but no go—it still crashes when I try to delete a location. Frustrating AF, am I the only one experiencing this?

Cupertino is the holy land, the mother ship....it cannot be deleted

Had you added one or more other locations first before trying to delete Cupertino?

Yes. I have three. My location, Cupertino, and another random location (unassigned by me). I tried deleting both the random location and the Cupertino location, and the app would crash no matter what.

YES ME TOOOOOOO! YOU IVE GONE THRU 3 PHONES IN THE PASY 24 HOURS. THEY COULDNT BELIEVE IT AT THE STORE. they made me make a new Apple ID thinking it was corrupt.

What happens if you delete those other two while in airplane mode?

Didn’t try but they all come back after it crashes. It gives me solace knowing I’m not the only one.

Any ideas why this would happen?

Do a full, encrypted backup of the phone. Restore (instead of update) the iPhone on a computer. Restore from the encrypted backup. See if it’s still being stupid.

Same thing, unfortunately. When I swipe all the way, boom, the weather app just crashes right there and then. This is in and out of Airplane mode.

I'm not going to erase/reinstall over this. Too much of a hassle. I'll report this to Apple and hope that they fix it in a future iOS update. Protip: even if you're not on a beta, you can report from iOS by typing in: applefeedback:// in the address bar and then pressing Enter. It will then open the hidden Feedback Assistant within iOS and prompt you to sign in with your Apple ID, then you can submit feedback that way.

here is a screenshot of video of it in case anyone is wondering.

Happening to me, too. So annoying.

I’ve actually been able to delete the Cupertino and New York locations a few times, but they pop up again as soon as I reopen the app.

I’ve also added additional locations and those disappear whenever I open the weather app again.

Just found out they changed weather providers this year. Don’t know if that is relevant but no longer the weather channel. Now it’s just apple. Told by senior advisor.

That’s why I hate that Apple doesn’t release their apps separately, like I wish they’d unbundle their app updates from iOS updates to speed up fixes for bugs like this

I would suggest doing a Reset All Settings before a full restore.

So I may be experiencing this issue a little differently. I only have My Location weather, and I can't delete that either. I can add others and delete them, but not the primary one. If I turned off Weather in Location Services, it's gone.

Maybe that's worth a try.

I’ve tried everything. Known issue it seems like. My moms iPhone 14 pro doesn’t do it but mine he does. My luck.

Once you turn it back on they will come back. No?

Noticed this on my iPhone 14 Pro Max on 16.0.2 which I set up as a brand new phone. Anyone on 16.1 notice the same bug?
